'Tis the Season

We have been doing a lot of fun family things these past few weeks. In the photo album you'll find pictures from Disney on Ice, a trip to the Children's Museum with Nana and Papa and Will's school Christmas program where he was the star of the show (at least he was to us). :-) We still have a few more fun things planned before Christmas; so stay tuned for pictures from our Christmas cookie bake-a-thon and a trip to Christmas at the Zoo!

Sara is 10 months old

Sara recently weighed in at 18 lbs 15 oz, so I imagine she is 19 lbs ? oz by now. She is 29 1/2 inches long, keeping her in the 95% for height, but she backed off from 75% to 50% for weight this time. I guess she is stretching out. :-) She really likes yogurt and graham crackers and is still working on trying to use a sippy cup, but we found out she can hold a bottle. Who knew? She is busy crawling after Will and almost cruising around the furniture. She's thinking about it. She really gets into reading books before her naps and at night and gets very excited when we go get Will from school. She really loves her big brother. Happy 10 month birthday, Sara!

Thankful

We have so much to be thankful for!! I am personally thankful for my happy and healthy kids, a wonderful husband who is a great daddy to those little blessings and the opportunity to stay home with them and watch them grow. I asked Will what he was thankful for and he said cookies and fruit snacks. To each their own. :-) Nate was off work Thanksgiving week so we had an action packed week of fun, food and family. Check out the photo album for pictures. Happy Thanksgiving!

Busy month for Sara!

Sara is 9 months old today! This past month Sara has cut 4 new teeth for a total of 6, started eating a few table foods, learned to clap and wave with a purpose, played peek-a-boo on her own, learned to crawl and just today she pulled up to standing for the first time. Good job, Sara, you're getting so big!

November 2, 2009

Look who's crawling!

Sara has been moving around for awhile but yesterday we think she officially figured it out. This morning she ventured into the kitchen for the first time. Yea, Sara! Watch out, Will, here she comes!

Halloween 2009 - we did it all!

Happy Halloween everyone! We made the most of the Halloween season this year. We went to Zoo Boo at the Indy zoo, Apple Works pumpkin patch, Trunk or Treat at the church where Will's school is, Will's school Halloween party, the Great Zoo Halloween at the FW Children's Zoo, and last but not least, trick or treating! We all had a great time, especially Will! He really enjoyed trick or treating this year did a good job of saying "trick or treat" and then "thank you". However, he might have had just as much fun helping give out candy at home. Now we are looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Can you believe it has been 5 years?!?!? We sure can't. Time flies when you are having fun. :-) We had a wonderful anniversary. Nate took the day off and we took the kids to Incredible Pizza Company. We had a great time there! I think even Sara enjoyed herself! That evening Nate (the same Nate who barely uses a microwave) made us filet mignon, cheesy smashed potatoes, corn, salad, biscuits and chocolate cake FROM SCRATCH. It was delicious. He also put together a DVD of photos from the wedding, when the kids were born, etc. What a sweetie!!! By the way, who are the kids in that picture? :-)

October 10, 2009

8 months old

Can Sara really be 8 months old already? I can't believe it! Sara has 2 teeth, enjoys reaching for things, loves real bananas, is getting some more hair and she thinks her big brother is the funniest guy around, which he probably is. Happy 8 month birthday, Sara!

There are just a few new pictures in the photo album. Unfortunately, poor Will has been pretty sick for over 1 week and has missed a few soccer games, so there aren't a lot of new pictures. Hopefully he will start feeling better soon!

Sara in her jumperoo - watch if you dare

Sara likes to jump!

Soccer and stuff

There are a few new pictures in the photo album. They include Will's 1st soccer game, random pictures of the kids and a field trip to Traders Point Creamery that Will and I went on with Jenny Geise's mom's group. Thanks, Jenny, for the invitation. We had a great time! Also, thanks to Nana and Papa for watching Sara. :-)

Sara gets a video

Sara has been "talking" a lot lately. She likes to respond when she sees this video, so maybe she knows what she is saying. Also, watch her kick those legs! If she was crawling that fast, she could keep up with Will. :-)

Will's 1st trip to the dentist

Today was Will's first trip to the dentist! He did great even though I could tell he was a little bit anxious about the trip. On the way there he said "Mommy, I think my teeth are already clean". :-) He definitely made some friends there when they pulled out the Lightning McQueen toothbrushes and prize basket. Good job, Will!

5 years - then and now

Today is the 5 year anniversary of our house! We closed on this house September 16, 2004. I only remember this because it was exactly 1 month until our wedding. I can't believe we have lived here 5 years already! When we moved in everything was clean and new and now... it definitely looks lived in and Nate's sports car has been traded in for a mini-van. When we moved in it was the two of us in a new house and now it is the four of us in our cozy home.

September 14, 2009

Soccer star

Will's 1st soccer game was this past Saturday. He had a great time and says his favorite part was running all around, which he did a lot of. Check out this video of Will's first game. Keep your eye out for Will. He's #1... Also, check out the picture of his biggest fan. :-)

Busy busy

Check the photo album for pictures of our trip to the Indiana State Fair, Will and Nate's golf cart ride to the fire station with Great Grandpa McComas, a trip to the Indy Zoo, the Disney Christmas Carol movie train and Sara's 7 month picture. We have been busy!

In other news, Will is a huge fan of baking, loves going to school one day per week, and likes to go on wagon rides which he refers to as going out to see the world. :-) Sara has been sitting up by herself without a problem for a few weeks, has 2 teeth, is (usually) sleeping 12 hours at night and starting to take 2 decent naps.

We are looking forward to Will starting his soccer league this coming Saturday! Stay tuned for pictures of Will on the soccer field.

What's up doc?

Today Will and Sara went for their 3 year and 6 month well visits. They are both doing great! Will weighs 31.5 lbs and is 37.75 inches tall and Sara weighs 17lbs and is 27.5 inches tall. This puts Will in the 50th percentile for weight and height and Sara in the 75th for weight and 95th for height. Sara is definitely a tall girl! In other news, their doctor said that Sara's eye color probably will stay like it is, as baby eye color usually doesn't change after 6 months. YEA! Sara's eyes are beautiful!

P.S. The picture is completely natural, I didn't pose them at all. Aren't they sweet? :-)

Will is 3!

We can't believe it but our little guy is 3 years old! He had a never ending birthday week with cupcakes and Bouncertown on his actual birthday (Wed), a party with his friends on Friday and a family birthday party on Saturday. We can't believe how fast this little guy is growing up! He makes us laugh every day. He is such a sweet little guy. Happy 3rd Birthday Will!

Tucson

Last week Nate and I took an early 5 year anniversary trip/business trip for Nate to Tucson. We stayed at the beautiful Westin, La Paloma Resort. In the short amount of time we where there we visited Tombstone, Sabino Canyon, the University of Arizona campus and relaxed the pool. Thanks to Nana and Papa for watching the kiddos so we could take some time to relax. Pics are in the the photo album, WARNING: There aren't any pics of the kids in this album so most of our followers probably won't be interested. haha :-)

Happy Birthday to Will

Happy 3rd Birthday, Will! Check out this video

Catching up

This summer has been a very busy one! Chrissy's cousins Sarah and Molly came to visit, Will went to the Johnson County Fair with Nana and Papa, we spent a few days in Fort Wayne, and Sara got her first tooth on August 1st! Check out our photo album for some new pictures. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for pictures of Nate and Chrissy's trip to Tucson and Will's 3rd birthday!

Welcome baby Maggie!

We have a new niece! Maggie Ann Keefer was born Tuesday, July 28 at 7:02 am. She weighed in at 8lbs, 8oz and 21 inches long. She is super cute and we were lucky enough to be able to visit her both in the hospital and at her new house. Will also got a chance to play with his buddy Ben. Congrats Bob, Janelle and Ben on your beautiful new baby girl!

Family Truckster

We did it! We bought a mini-van! This news is about 1 month old, but it is still news I guess. We are over the "I am too young/hip/cool/whatever to drive a mini-van" thing because lets face it, we're not. ;-) We are in our 30's (can that be right?) have 2 kids and LOVE OUR VAN. We are convinced that automatic sliding doors are the greatest invention for families since the baby swing and bouncy seat. Stop by for a ride sometime, we can actually fit you in our vehicle now.

Early July

Early July has been busy for us! We have been to Hobart for the 4th of July, Fort Wayne for the Three Rivers Festival and Will is potty training. He is doing really good, too! In less than a month Will is going to have his 3rd birthday and Sara will be 6 months old. Where has the time gone? Pictures from early July are in the photo album.

July 9, 2009

5 months old

Sara has been spending her time playing with her big brother and she also loves her exersaucer. As soon as we clear some toys away we'll get her jumperoo going too. She is sure to enjoy it because she loves anything that involves standing up. Happy 5 month birthday, Sara!

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July in Hobart, IN. It was a mostly cool and rainy weekend, but it was fun to hang out with Nate's family and introduce Sara to everyone. We also made a stop by Lake Michigan on the way home. Unfortunately we didn't take a lot of pictures, but I'll add what we do have to the photo album in the near future.

Day Out with Thomas

This past Saturday we traveled to Connersville, IN to meet Thomas the train. Will had a special day with mommy and daddy all to himself. Thanks to Nana and Papa for watching Sara! Will had a great time and picked up a few fun souvenirs. Check out the photo album for pictures of our Day Out with Thomas!

Sara gets cereal

Will didn't start eating baby cereal until he was 5 months old, but in the words of our pediatrician, "sometimes the bigger babies like to start earlier". Given that Sara was in the 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight at her recent appointment, I guess that means she would enjoy a little something extra. :-) She must have been ready because she didn't make any funny faces or anything for her first bites, she just opened her mouth wide for another. She has had rice and oatmeal so far. In a few weeks she'll be adding yellow veggies. Yum.

Happy Father's Day!

We returned from our vacation just in time for Father's Day! Nate and I have wonderful dads and Nate is continuing the tradition. Will and Sara are very lucky to have such a great daddy. Happy (belated) Father's Day!

June 23, 2009

Hilton Head Island 2009

We had a great time on our summer vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC. Will loved the beach and Sara didn't get a sunburn so it was a success! Nate and my brother played golf and I had a spa afternoon with my mom and sister-in-law. It doesn't get much better than that. :-) Check the photo album for a ton of pictures.

June 11, 2009

4 months old and a new trick!

Sara rolled over for the first time this past Sunday, just 2 days before her 4 month birthday! She has been so close for so long. She seems happy to be able to get off of her back if she wants to. Nice work, Sara!

May 31, 2009

Congratulations, Mary!

We went to Fort Wayne this past weekend to attend my cousin Mary's graduation party from Bishop Dwenger High School. In case it wasn't already true, I am officially old now. My baby cousin is headed off to college! She is headed to Purdue University and we couldn't be more proud of her. Congratulations, Mary!!!!!!

Will and Sara have a playset

Will and Sara are the proud owners of a new playset! Thanks go out to daddy, Papa, Uncle Kyle, Gramps and Grandpa Keefer who all had a hand building it. It looks great and Will loves it! I'm sure Sara does too, but she doesn't talk about it as much yet. :-) Will has said more than once "I'm so excited I have a swingset at my house".

May 22, 2009

Will in the sprinkler

Will played in the "sprinkle" today. :-)

Mother's Day 2009

This year was my best Mother's Day yet! I will probably say that every year, but it really was. It was my first Mother's Day with Sara, Nate made me breakfast and gave me Will and Sara charms for my necklace, Will made me a card, I got a free sweet tea from Dunkin' Doughnuts and I even got to take a nap. You can't beat that.

I know that Mother's Day is supposed to be a day to honor mothers, which is very important, but this Mother's Day I had an overwhelming feeling of what an honor it was to be a mom to my kiddos. I feel so blessed to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to stay home with them and watch them grow. I appreciate being able to be there to see them smile and laugh and give them hugs when they cry. The time has already gone by so fast. I need to remember that during the difficult moments. :-) Thanks, Nate, for making this possible for our family. xoxo

3 Months

Sara is 3 months old! She is weighing in at 13 lbs even. She is getting so big and so tall and beginning to interact more each day. She has recently taken to sucking her thumb. We aren't sure if this is a good thing or bad, but we are going with it for now. Her favorite way to sleep is to turn over on her side, suck her left thumb and rub her head with her right hand. It's adorable. :-) In other news... she is sleeping through the night! She gave me the best Mother's Day gift she could by sleeping from 9 pm to 6 am. Thanks, Sara!

1st trip to the track

Last Friday Nate, his dad and Will had a guys day (few hours) at the track. They got to see Helio Castroneves and others practice. Will had a great time seeing the race cars and he got a race car and t-shirt out of the deal. Thanks, Papa!

April 27, 2009

Spring is here

We have really been enjoying all of this warm weather! We went to the Indianapolis Zoo for the first time this year and had a great time, until Will fell and scraped his knee for the first time. Not good. We spent the rest of the weekend sprucing up the yard and being outside as much as possible. Some of us were out a little too much and have the farmers tans to prove it.

April 17, 2009

Easter 2009

Sara's first Easter was a great one! Will colored Easter eggs for the first time this year. We had a fun time in Fort Wayne and the kiddos got a lot of fun things from the Easter bunny. Check out the photo album for pictures.

April 10, 2009

2 months old

Sara turned 2 months old yesterday! She had her appointment today and weighed in at 11 lbs 7 oz. She is 22 7/8 inches long. This puts her above average for weight and length. We thought she was outgrowing her 0-3 month sleepers quickly! Happy 2 month birthday, Sara! :-)

April 9, 2009

Almost Easter

This past week has been a lot of fun, including some Easter activities. Will went to his first Easter egg hunt and his last Gymboree class this weekend when Grandma and Grandpa were visiting. Also, (Great) Aunt Cindy stayed with us for a couple of days this week so we kept her busy making Easter cookies and visiting family. It has been a fun week already and we still have Easter to look forward to! Check the photo album for new pictures.

March 28, 2009

A week of firsts

This has been a busy week for us! Sara had her first smile, her first x-ray and her first trip to Chuck E Cheese. Her first smile was at daddy, of course. Her first x-ray (for pneumonia) turned out to be fine and her first trip to Chuck E Cheese she watched over Will's tokens for him. What a good little sister. :-) Pictures are in the photo album.

March 23, 2009

Cousin Ben's birthday and other fun stuff

This past weekend we went to our nephew Ben's 2nd birthday party! We (especially Will... see the pictures) had a great time and also had fun visiting Grandma and Grandpa Keefer and watching basketball games. Yea, Purdue!!!!! Sara is their biggest/smallest fan. :-)

March 9, 2009

1 month

Happy 1 month birthday, Sara! We can't believe how fast the past month has gone by. Sara weighs 8 lbs, 15 oz today and has outgrown her newborn clothes and diapers. She is changing so much every day! Will is especially enjoying his new baby sister. He always says "Don't worry, baby Sara, we will take care of you." How sweet is that? Additional pictures are in the photo album. Enjoy!

March 3, 2009

Back to the real world

This is our first week on our own and we are doing good so far! Of course I haven't actually left the house with both kids by myself yet, but that will be coming soon. Will needs a haircut so we might be heading out tomorrow. Wish us luck. :-) Thanks to Grandma Keefer for spending a week here spoiling us. We miss you! Also, thank you to all the other people who have visited us. It has been fun to share our new little bundle of joy with family and friends. Recent pictures are in the photo album.

February 18, 2009

More Sara

This has been a busy week of getting adjusted to a 2 kid family. It hasn't helped that Will has been sick ever since we got home. He had a fever for the first couple days and now has a cold and an ear infection. So in addition to being up at all hours with Sara, we're up with Will too. Good family fun! Sara is starting to get adjusted to sleeping at night and we hope the trend continues. We've added a few pictures to the album showing us leaving the hospital, Sara's first bath, and our first car ride with both Will and Sara.

February 10, 2009

Sara Marie

On 2/9/2009, we welcomed Sara Marie McComas into the world - a beautiful baby girl. She was born at 6:58am. Sara weighed 7 lbs, 6 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. Both Sara and Mommy are doing great. Will is being very sweet to her - singing songs and wondering why she is crying. Thanks to all for the congrats. Also, congrats to Stephanie for winning the baby prediction contest! Pictures have been posted. More to come.

February 4, 2009

Large and in charge

If things go as planned, 1 week from now we will be heading back to the operating room to meet baby McComas! We have done a horrible job of updating belly pictures this time around. I apologize. So here is a picture for anyone who is wondering just how big I have become. I actually had someone ask me yesterday if the baby was breech and is that the head that is sticking out so far. Why yes, yes it is I replied. I would have been annoyed but the woman went on to explain that she also had a breech baby and she looked exactly like me when she was pregnant. Well at least I'm not the only one with an inverted looking baby belly. :-)

January 28, 2009

Finally... some snow!

We haven't had more than 1 inch of snow at a time this winter and now we have nearly 10 inches in one day! It's almost too much for Will to even walk around in but he had a good time. Nate is taking a snow day today so they were able to go out and do their best to make a snowman with snow that was too fluffy to pack. Some pictures are in our album.

January 24, 2009

January

As we count down the days until our new little one arrives sometimes it feels like the days are flying by and sometimes it feels like time is standing still. Will has been to two birthday parties this month and we are getting back into the swing of our playdates, Gymboree and library classes after the holidays. We are also trying to get things ready for baby #2. We have a scheduled c-section for Wednesday, February 11 so expect to hear some news no later than Feb 11. We'll keep you posted...
